LUK4: Gig guides on mobile phones

-
LUK4, the mobile Yellow Pages of Directories Philippines Corp. (DPC), now makes available the latest information on some of the country’s most popular bands and their gigs via the mobile phone.

The service is part of a wide selection of things to do and places to go this summer. So when friends get that spur-of-the-moment urge to watch their favorite band, they can simply LUK4 it.

Powered by the electronic Yellow Pages, LUK4 makes getting directory information via the mobile phone as easy as texting a friend.

By simply typing in specific keywords, subscribers of Globe, Smart, and Sun Cellular can quickly get the addresses and telephone numbers of more than 200,000 businesses in the Philippines.

Current LUK4 services include the Business Directory, Restaurant Info, Food Delivery, Gimmicks, Movies, Shopping, Emergency, and Churches.

Beyond giving directory information, LUK4 offers greater value by providing information on the latest happenings around Metro Manila and other key metropolitan centers.

For example, through LUK4, fans can find out where these bands are playing: Hemp Republic, Orange and Lemons, Parokya ni Edgar, Radio Active Sago Project, Up Dharma Down, Kamikazee, Ang Bandang Shirley, Juan Pablo Dream, Drip, Giniling, Swizzy, Affinity, The Space Flower Show, Six Part Invention, Domination, and the Reggae Mistress.

Also featured are solo entertainers like Shayne, Dindo and jazz artist Johnny Alegre.

"LUK4 serves the young, highly active, and always-on-the-go individuals," said Doji Lopez, DPC New Media Services head.

"These are people who want to get information in a flash and can make quick decisions based on the information they receive. They are usually very spontaneous so it’s important for them to have quick and easy access to information," Lopez added.

Directories Philippines Corp. (DPC), a 100 percent Filipino-owned company, is the biggest publisher of telephone directories in the Philippines.

Its flagship Yellow Pages now comes as an integrated print, electronic and mobile directory that gives advertisers unparalleled reach to a broad spectrum of ready buyers.

DPC currently publishes 35 telephone directories for Metro Manila and other major metropolitan centers in the country.

DPC was established in 1989 to take over the operations of GTE Directories Corp., an American firm which established its Philippine branch in 1957.
