Globe Solutions turns BOC into SMS-enabled agency

GlobeSolutions is the new partner of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in delivering responsive and efficient services to the government agency’s customers.

At the 105th anniversary of BOC, GlobeSolutions launched the TxtConnect and GCash service for the agency. Globe Telecom and Innove Communications are the first to provide such services to the bureau.

"Imagine transacting business with the Bureau of Customs with no need for face-to-face transactions. No need to go to the BOC. No need to go to the bank. The BOC’s e2m (electronic-to-mobile) is the movement from Internet-based computer systems to cellphone-based devices for use in BOC transactions — filing, track and trace, cargo status, notification, payment, release instruction, etc. With a cellphone, importers, exporters, brokers and BOC personnel can completely process import and export shipments via their cellphones," said Alexander Arevalo, BOC deputy commissioner for management information systems and technology group.

The partnership between BOC and GlobeSolutions, together with GCash, is part of the agency’s e2m project.

An SMS-based system will be developed for the BOC to help reduce the cost and time of doing business and face-to-face transactions with the government agency.
