Motorola deploys secure radio, surveillance network for summit

Motorola Inc., a global leader in critical radio communications, successfully deployed two Motorola Smartnet trunk radio networks and a digital security surveillance system in Cebu City for the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other local agencies.

The radio and surveillance networks had been fully deployed and tested by the security agencies by Dec. 10 to be ready for operation during the 12th ASEAN Summit.

Security forces were also mobilized around Cebu City and in the conference venues during the four-day event last month.

The radio network used by the PNP was deployed on Mount Busay as part of a nationwide rollout and consisted of a five-channel MTC 3600 site controller and 600 ATS2500 subscriber handsets.

The shared citywide surveillance network had over 40 mesh-enabled wireless Sony IP video cameras together with Motorola Canopy 5.7GHz access points mounted on light poles covering the entire stretch of Cebu City, enabling continuous video surveillance throughout the summit.
