UPS goes wireless with SMS tracking

Tracking your package has never been this easy. UPS, the world’s largest package delivery company, launches a new convenient service – the UPS SMS tracking system – for customers in the Philippines.

Knowing where your package is at any time and anywhere is a concern every customer has, especially for important documents or shipments that need to reach their destination at a certain time.

Now tracking packages is a breeze with the UPS SMS tracking system as it allows customers to track their shipments while they are on the move via SMS or texting using their mobile phones.

"The Philippines is one of the leading countries when it comes to mobile phone usage, especially when it comes to ‘texting’ or sending messages via SMS," says Tim Gohoc, managing director of UPS Philippines.

"It’s natural that we extend UPS’ tracking service via this powerful and convenient tool to our customers, and offer them peace of mind when they know where their packages are," he adds.

The SMS tracking service is simple to use. UPS customers can register for the SMS tracking system via the Internet or through their GSM mobile phone. Once registered, they can obtain updates on the location of their package with the simple steps:

1. On the mobile phone, select "message" and open the "write message" window.

2. Next, enter "TR," space, followed by the UPS tracking number.

3. Send the message to +63 917 8982877 or 0917 TXT2UPS.

UPS customers will then receive the following information – shipment status, date and time, shipment location, recipient signature, and tracking number. In addition, a registered user will also receive a notification once his or her package is delivered.

To register for the service, customers simply need to log on to www.UPS.com, go to the "Business Solutions" tab, click on "UPS Wireless Solutions" and follow the step-by-step registration instructions.

Alternatively, they can select the link "Learn more about UPS SMS tracking" when accessing USP.com using their mobile phones and follow the instructions.

UPS is the world’s largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services, offering an extensive range of options for synchronizing the movement of goods, information and funds.

With headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, UPS serves more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
