Lyceum prepaid SIM: A first in RP

At the inauguration of its very first Tech Week recently, the Lyceum of the Philippines unveiled the country’s first school-based prepaid SIM powered by Globe.

The Lyceum prepaid SIM was the centerpiece of the Tech Week’s opening ceremony, which was held at the school’s Jose P. Laurel Freedom Hall.

The inauguration was graced by Lyceum president Atty. Roberto Laurel, vice president Sarah Laurel-Lopez, academic officials, and representatives of the event’s main sponsors, including Globe’s Wireless Business Group head Ferdz de la Cruz, Sybase country manager Benjie Henares, and Intel country manager Ricky Banaag.

Hundreds of students lined up to avail themselves of the free Lyceum prepaid SIM, which allows them to download their most recent grades, the latest school events, important administrative announcements, and exclusive content such as logos, picture messages, wallpapers, ringtones, and polytones.

The Lyceum prepaid SIM also features student-friendly discounted rates for calls and texts.

Lyceum’s Tech Week featured a symposium on emerging technologies such as mobile broadband 3G and G-Cash, with a live demonstration of a 3G streaming video call and a discussion of the potential benefits of e-commerce.

Laurel lauded the Lyceum prepaid SIM as a groundbreaking innovation that offers students instant and inconvenient access to academic records and other relevant school information.

"The Lyceum prepaid SIM, a first in the country, exemplifies Lyceum’s commitment to always be at the forefront of new and emerging technologies," he said.

De la Cruz cited the Lyceum’s implemen-tation of cutting-edge technology in its daily operations.

"Both Lyceum and Globe share a passion for emerging technology and its potential to uplift people’s lives. Globe will always be with Lyceum to support its vision of a better nation through technology," he said.
