Watching news on Globe 3G

-
Who need the latest news and current events can rely on Globe Telecom’s made-for-mobile streaming videos and downloads to put them on the scene just as the news unfolds.

Exclusive programs from trusted news providers on cable TV such as ANC, CNN, ESPN, and the Associated Press means that Globe subscribers are always in-the-know wherever they are.

With 3G technology, both prepaid and postpaid subscribers can get up-to-date information from around the world without sitting in front of a TV or radio.

They can actually see and hear the heart-pumping field reportage and behind-the-scenes commentaries, delivered right to their phones via Globe Telecom’s pioneer Globe Mobile Broadband 3G with HSDPA.

Long-time Globe user Jason Martin, a corporate communications manager, gets his news fix on the road, on his way to work.

"Up-to-date information is vital to my business. I need to know what’s happening right away, and Globe 3G’s video streaming lets me do just that even when I’m stuck in traffic," he said.

"Before, I could only rely on text messages to be aware of what was happening if I couldn’t be in front of a TV," said Gemma Manzanero, a research associate for a news monitoring agency.

"I think it’s great that now I see the news on TV anywhere I want right on the screen of my phone. Especially with so many life-altering things going on around us, instant access to information is important for survival in our rapidly changing world," she added.

Only Globe subscribers have free access to a live feed of the international news channel CNN as well as premier programs such as CNN Now in the News in their hands.

They can watch their favorite programs from the Associated Press, ABS-CBN and other news providers right on their mobile phones. They can also stay on top of sports and entertainment developments through Globe’s tie-ups and be part of the action wherever they are.

They can watch hard-hitting action for themselves play-by-play on videos from ESPN’s show SportsCenter. They can also be part of the celebrity scene with featured video updates from Boy Abunda on The Buzz (ABS-CBN).

For users like Patricia Razon who prefers to read than watch the news on her favorite websites, Globe has a truly mobile Internet solution.

With Globe’s 3G with HSDPA service, Patricia, a segment producer for a local news program, has her own access point to the World Wide Web at broadband speeds just a click away right on her phone.

Even without an Internet café or Wi-Fi hotspot nearby, Globe’s Mobile Broadband 3G with HSDPA allows users to instantly access the Internet for uninterrupted streaming reports and the latest commentaries.

This personal Internet connection gives Patricia the edge she needs to do her job by putting her perpetually online.

"In a job like mine, I constantly need to be on top of things, going to where the action is. I get the info I need when I need it with Globe, even when I’m out on location without a TV or computer in sight," she said.

To browse their preferred news websites through their 3G phones or laptops using their 3G phone as a modem or a 3.5G or HSDPA-capable datacard, subscribers can use their prepaid and postpaid Globe SIMS and get the latest updates at speeds peaking at 1.4 Mbps, or 25 times faster than dial-up.

Anywhere with Globe’s Super-3G signal is a convenient place to check the latest news here and abroad.

With the subscribers’ need for speedy updates, Globe ensured that they could simply configure their 3G phone to be part of the latest issues around the globe. By simply texting GO to 2951 and making sure that myGlobe Connect settings are installed and saved as default settings, they could be connected to the world.
