Nokia 6233 starts shipping

-
Nokia recently introduced the Nokia 6233 in the local market. The sleek 110-gram, 81-cc handset features a stainless steel frame, a two-megapixel camera, a 320 x 420 QVGA color screen, digital music player, stereo speakers and a wide array of applications which take advantage of WCDMA mobile broadband services.

Supporting the latest messaging, browsing, music, and video standards, the Nokia 6233 features a brilliant 320 x 240 QVGA display, with an "Active Standby Mode" that gives immediate access to the most-used applications.

Nokia Phils. country general manager Parikshit Bhasin said, "Market research forecast indicates that the replacement market growth in the Asia-Pacific will increase exponentially from 2005 to 2007 and it is clear that digital convergence and 3G are the key drivers for this growth."

"We are increasingly seeing more technologically advanced features such as cameras, music players and support for mobile e-mail being introduced across affordable mid-tier category," he added.

According to Bhasin, research shows that Asian consumers, in particular, have a stronger appetite for newer, technologically advanced devices and are more likely to be earlier adopters of such devices.

Bhasin said, "On the 3G front, WCDMA is gaining mass attraction in the market with over 45.7 million subscribers globally at the end of 2005. We are confident, that as more 3G-enabled devices are introduced to the affordable mid-tier segment, the uptake for WCDMA services will increase sharply and I believe a product like the Nokia 6233 will be extremely popular with consu-mers."

The Nokia 6233 also offers exciting new 3G services such as streaming multimedia audio and video content. Consumers can download the latest business news as well as sports highlights of the game they had missed.

They can also upload and download large files quickly, including downloadable games, videos or MP3 or AAC ringtones.

Music lovers can connect a pair of headphones and scan through their favorite music albums, thanks to the Nokia 6233’s hot swappable microSD memory card support of up to 2 GB.
