3Com Corporation has announced the availability of its new Wireless LAN Access Point 7250 for enterprise customers.
Advanced enterprise security and management features were among the best offerings of the innovative high-speed, cost-effective wireless product.
The Wireless LAN Access Point 7250 has a single 802.11-standard 11g radio design, which can deliver high-speed wireless and can be easily integrated into a standards-based network environment.
"3Com continues to invest in wireless LAN technology and strive to deliver products that offer full standards support, upgradeability, reliable performance, manageability, power over Ethernet flexibility and a high level of security," said Brent Nixon, 3Com director of product management for enterprise wireless.
"For larger customers who want tri-mode 11a/b/g wireless solutions, we have a compelling offering with the 3Com Access Points 8750 and 8250. But for customers who want lower cost 11g wireless equipment to enable high-speed wireless, the new Access Point 7250 should be the right fit," he added.
The new access point complements 3Coms enterprise wireless offerings, which include dual-mode and tri-mode (11a/b/g) access points.
3Com also offers wireless PC cards for mobile users computers.
Like the Access Point 8750 and 8250, the 7250 has one of the most robust portfolios of security features in the market today.
The access point supports Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption in addition to Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).
AES is the encryption standard of the US government, and most 3Com competitors do not have that feature yet on their products.
Security is enhanced with a variety of authentication methods including TKIP, RADIUS, MD-5 and TTLS. Additional features include 3Com Wireless LAN Manager software, speed of up to 54 Mbps and Wi-Fi certification.
