CANNES, France The global trade association of GSM operators, manufacturers and suppliers has adjudged the Sony Ericsson T610 as the Best Wireless Handset.
The Sony Ericsson T610, described as "the mobile that has everything," features an integrated camera, a large 65K color screen and 32-voice polyphonic system.
Judges at the GSM Association Awards 2004 said the Sony Ericsson T610 "is a great phone, almost faultless. Everything on it works. It opens up access to applications and technologies that people were not using before now they use them because they can."
The T610 has successfully encompassed the key application areas of imaging, entertainment and connectivity. It supports PC applications such as Image Editor and the two main mobile gaming platforms, Java and Mophun.
A built-in Music DJ application, along with support for the Sony Ericsson FM Radio and Bluetooth Music Player, enhances its entertainment features. The camera phone also provides e-mail connectivity, PC synchronization and cable support.
The GSM Association consists of more than 570 second- and third-generation mobile operators and over 130 manufacturers and suppliers.
The T610 was the first of Sony Ericsson QuickShare products. QuickShare allows users to share information via MMS, e-mail, infrared or Bluetooth in just a few clicks.
With its complete range of easily accessible functions for both the consumer and business subscriber, the T610 has become the best-selling camera phone in many European and Asian markets.
Since its debut, the T610 has also been acclaimed for its design. Leading UK consumer magazine Mobile Choice adjudged it as the 2003 Phone of the Year, hailing its "refined candy bar features finished in immaculate silver and black, well-spaced keypad and large screen" as "understated cool."
