Samsung holds dealers’ night

-
Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. will hold its first annual dealers’ night tomorrow at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.

Maengdal Bae, Samsung vice president for sales and marketing, said this will be the first occasion where the company will show appreciation to its cellular phone dealers and recognize those who have delivered exemplary performance.

The show, to be hosted by comedians Giselle Sanchez and Willie Nepomuceno, will be attended by over 300 guests. Highlighting the event is the launch of new phone models, and awarding of citations to outstanding dealers for 2002.

Sang Youl Eom, president of Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp., will deliver the keynote address on the company’s vision in both local and global markets.

Samsung introduced its products in the country two years ago amid the growing demand for mobile phones. Within this short span of time, it has done a sterling job in penetrating the market with state-of-the-art phones and a distribution network of over 700 dealers and 2,000 retail shops.

This year, Samsung expects a 50 percent growth in its cellular phone sales, making it the second largest cellular phone provider in the Philippines.

Bae estimates that the demand for mobile phones is anywhere from three to 3.5 million units a year. There were about 12 million Filipino cellphone subscribers as of 2002.

"Our growth targets will be fueled by the introduction of new phone models with cutting-edge technology," he said, pointing out that much of the company’s competitive edge lies in the upgrading of color resolution and polyphonic ringtones.

To be unveiled during the dealer’s night are five new models – the SGH-T500, SGH-A800, SGH-T200, SGH-A500 and T400, each offering unique features.

Samsung is the third largest maker of mobile phones in the world, accounting for a 10 percent market share.
