Eastern Telecommunications Phils. Inc. (Eastern Telecom) was the official Internet service provider (ISP) of the recently concluded COMDDAP Expo 2002, an IT mecca of sorts which yearly gathers a throng of consumers, suppliers, manufacturers and solutions specialists showcasing the latest and the best product and service innovations in the information and communications technology (ICT) industries.
COMDDAP, or the Computer Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines, successfully mounted its 17th show dubbed "Technology, People and Solutions" at Makati Shangri-La Hotel with the help of technology partners like Eastern Telecom.
The expo was attended by more than 14,000 visitors composed of students from the big universities in Manila as well as provincial colleges, but mostly from the corporate sector.
"We are proud to be a part of COMDDAP Expo 2002 because it is truly a prestigious event. It captures the pulse of the IT market and attracts the biggest players of the IT industry," said Virgil Pedro, VP for marketing, product management and channels of Eastern Telecom.
"At the same time, we know we can add value to COMDDAP Expo 2002 by enhancing its wireless local area network feature with our high-bandwidth connectivity services," he added.
This years show underscored the widening popularity of wireless access technologies by dividing the total exhibit area into four major zones, each networked and fully integrated by COMDDAPs wireless partners.
Complementing this feature were Eastern Telecoms Internet Direct Service (IDS) and Gigabit Internet Service, which provided high-speed Internet connectivity to more than 40 exhibit booths.
The Gigabit Internet Service is designed for mission-critical bandwidth heavy Internet applications. Through its fiber optic connection, it delivers business-to-Internet and business-to-business bandwidth at breakaway speed of up to 100 Mbps.
IDS is a premium access service that provides a dedicated Internet bandwidth from a corporate location to global Internet exchanges. It is equipped with a completely scalable bandwidth and delivers high-speed connectivity ranging from 64 Kbps to 100 Mbps.
Both services run on Gigabit fiber optic ring for increased reliability and security against network downtime.
