All’s set for ‘CommunicAsia2001’ in Singapore

-
Singapore Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew, James Murdoch, chairman and CEO of Star Group; Kurt Hellstrom, president and CEO of Ericsson, and Dr. Lawrence Roberts, founder, chairman and chief technology officer of Caspian Networks and widely known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet," are among the speakers and panelists in the different fora and discussion groups of CommunicAsia2001 to be held on June 19-22 at the Singapore Expo.

Occupying 75,000 square meters, CommunicAsia2001 is undeniably Asia’s largest infocomms trade event. It is organized by the Singapore Exhibition Services and hosted by the Infocomms Development Authority of Singapore.

An international event with over 2,000 companies participating, CommunicAsia2001 has surged past its previous record-breaking showings to achieve a further 10 percent growth.

"The response to the show has been so overwhelming that specially constructed tents have to be built to accommodate additional exhibitors," said Shaun Goh, executive director for communications and engineering events of Singapore Exhibition Services.

Communications and IT technologies such as 3G, Bluetooth, broadband, wireless, GPRS and other killer applications will dominate the annual exhibition and conference. This year will see the launches of many new products.

Siemens will showcase the "mEvent Portal," a personal WAP companion for conferences, trade shows and other events. The service enables WAP phones to receive pertinent information such as an exhibition’s floor plan and other details and a real-time schedule of events taking place. It will also be launching its very own GPRS multimobile PDA-cum-phone, the S45.

GPRS will also be a hot topic for Ericsson this year with lectures scheduled to provide information on targeted GPRS solutions. Other sessions will discuss enterprise migration into the 3G world with Ericsson’s technology, as well as Bluetooth.

Hewlett Packard, a first-time participant, has committed to showcase innovative e-services for a variety of hosted and mobile platforms.
