The LG G6 is finally coming to the Philippines at the end of the month after its official announcement back in February.
If you’re not yet familiar or convinced about the LG G6, here are six things you need to know before deciding to get one:
Large Display. Everyone seems to have grown larger this year. The LG G6 sports a 5.7-inch quad HD display – a territory used to be associated with larger phones or phablets like its cousin, the LG V20. This time around, though, LG managed to make the body of the G6 just as small as the G5 yet made more room for the display. It’s got thinner bezels in all corners so that almost the entire front panel is occupied by the screen.
Top Performance. The LG G6 is powered by a high-performance Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. This is slightly better than the chip used by the LG G5 and can easily handle anything in the ecosystem, including the most graphics-intensive games.
Water-Resistant. For the first time, LG managed to get its flagship device an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance of up to 1.5 meters for as long as 30 minutes. This means no more problems when you accidentally get the phone wet or you can even bring it for a quick dip.
Dual Rear Camera. The G6 followed in the footsteps of the G5 and the V20 with their dual rear cameras. Both sensors have 13-megapixel resolution but have different features. One has a standard high aperture of f/1.8 for better low-light shots while the second one has a wide-angle field of view which is best for scenic shots.
Hifi Quad DAC. The LG G6 inherited the 32-bit quad DAC (digital-to-analog converters) from the G5 and the V20 and improved upon them. These help produce really high-quality sound specifically for wired headphones.
Better Battery. The LG G5 had a low-capacity battery of only 2,600mAh. It was good for a whole day’s use but not enough for most heavy users. Fortunately, the new LG G6 has bigger battery capacity at 3,300mAh. During my time using the phone, it certainly lasted much longer and could go for a day and a half before charging it back again. There’s also support for wireless charging on top of that.
Pre-order for the LG G6 is ongoing until April 30 with a retail price of P37,990.
