Jack is back
MANILA, Philippines - Twitter co-founder and the man who sent out the first ever tweet Jack Dorsey is back at the helm of the social network. Dorsey took over as interim CEO after Dick Costolo resigned from the post back in July.
After a three-month search for candidates, Twitter’s board decided Dorsey is the best fit for the job.
Moments
Just days after removing the “interim” tag on Dorsey’s role as Twitter CEO, the social network announces a new future aimed at helping users make better sense of what’s happening in the Twitterverse.
Called Moments, the feature is a curated collection of the most relevant and trending conversations happening on Twitter.
On Twitter’s Android and iOS apps, the moment tab (the one that looks like a lightning bolt) opens a list of moments. Click on one and you will be taken to an intro with a title and a description. Unlike Twitter’s timeline where the latest tweet is always up top, the tweets on Moments are arranged chronologically from the first tweet relevant to the story.
You can cycle between moments whether it’s Sports, Entertainment, or News. Like in life, moments will continue to happen. Follow a moment and you’ll see if there’s a new update when you see a blue dot on the upper right hand corner of the image associated with the moment.
Facebook Reactions
Last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Q&A session that the like button has become insufficient to express how you feel about a post. Many thought a dislike button was making its way to the social network but Zuckerberg clarified they are looking for other ways to let their users appropriately empathize on the post.
Fast forward to this week and the company appears to be testing a set of emoji reactions to expand the like button. Instead of just the thumbs up, the set of reactions now include a heart for love and emojis for Haha, Yay, Wow, Sad, and Angry.
Question is, how do you feel about this update?
