Microsoft’s Citizen Services Portal empowers LGUs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In line with its commitment to be a meaningful partner of the government in achieving efficiency through technology, Microsoft Philippines, together with Filcomserve and Gurango Software, recently launched the Citizen Services Portal of the Philippines or CSP.PH to enable local government units (LGUs) to transparently and efficiently serve their constituents.

CSP.PH is a Web application built on Microsoft Dynamics CRM on the cloud that allows citizens to report incidents, events or service requests that require immediate attention of their LGU or barangay.

If a barangay acquires a CSP.PH, its citizens can go to the portal using any Internet-enabled device to report any concerns. This report will be received by the staff administering the portal. Then, it will be dispatched to the department responsible with the service request.

For instance, if it is about uncollected garbage, the matter will be redirected to the cleanliness and sanitation office. Finally, the reporting citizen will immediately receive an update through SMS regarding the service request.

CSP.PH is part of Microsoft’s CityNext program. Enabling a people-first approach, CityNext is a broader program of Microsoft that aims to empower governments and citizens to shape the future of their city using transformative technology.

Cities, as the core drivers of the country’s economic, social and environmental future, need to leverage modern technology to face a new wave of daunting challenges — from the need to modernize aging infrastructure in older cities, to scaling the demand for natural resources, and sustaining the health and safety of their citizens among others.

Now, with CSP.PH, which is powered by leading technologies such as Microsoft Dynamics, Filcomserve and Gurango Solutions, progressive communities in the country can strategically respond to challenges.

Barangay San Lorenzo in Makati City is the first community in the country that deployed Microsoft Dynamics CRM on Cloud through CSP.PH. With this innovation, the barangay can now deliver much-needed services to its constituents, and provide greater efficiency in its internal processes.

“In Barangay San Lorenzo, we strive to be a model for efficient governance in the country. In line with this, we leverage breakthrough technologies such as CSP.PH to deliver the highest value of basic, social, and economic services to our citizenry,” said Ernesto Moya, Barangay San Lorenzo chairman.

“CSP.PH will not just enable us to be more collaborative, productive and effective as we serve our constituents but will also help the people of San Lorenzo build a better, healthier and more progressive community by taking an active role in reporting actionable situations in the barangay.”

“Microsoft is committed to create a lasting impact in the community. In so doing, we work closely with the government and help them attain efficiency through technology. We are honored that LGUs such as Barangay San Lorenzo trust us in helping them scale for continued progress using strategic innovations like CSP.PH,” said Karrie Ilagan, general manager of Microsoft Philippines.

“Communities like San Lorenzo are on an exciting journey with growing opportunities. Microsoft, through CityNext, will enable them to leverage existing investments and incorporate new technologies at their own pace so that they can create a more sustainable innovation model for their governance.”

CSP.PH also provides analytics for decision-making. It allows LGU managers to measure the service levels of departments and provide metrics in real time to its stakeholders.
