Bubbly version 3.0 out

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Bubbly, formerly known as Bubble Motion, has launched version 3.0 of its social voice service app, now available to an additional 56 million phone users across the Philippines.

Bubbly users can share their voice with the world through short recordings, or Bubbles, with their friends, fans, and followers via any mobile phone — be it a smartphone or simpler feature phone.

The new version has a fresh new look and new sound filters for posting of voice messages.

Bubbly also allows its users to access voice recordings from actors, sports stars, comedians, musicians, and other celebrities.

“This way, our users can connect with the stars they love in a more personal and authentic way,” said Bubbly CEO Thomas Clayton.

In a special partnership with Smart Communications Inc., Bubbly allows users to access Bubbles from celebrities such as Christian Bautista, Karylle, Maxene and the Magalona family, Jasmine Curtis, Rivermaya, Boys Night Out, and many more.

Sharing audio messages on Bubbly is simple and easy. Users need only push a button on their phone to record a message, choose a filter to personalize the background sound, and then post to their page.

Version 3.0 of the app introduces redesigned displays for the Home feed, Discover page, and record function, which make sharing and finding relevant audio content easier than ever before.

Also included are new background filters like Coffee Shop, Clubbing, and Bombay, that allow users to add an atmospheric soundtrack to their spoken voice. These filters are in addition to the extremely popular voice-altering filters already in the app such as Helium and Echo Cave that Bubbly users love.

Business developments

Coming from a record first quarter in both revenue and user growth, as its network exceeds 30 million users, Bubbly has unified its company name and consumer service brand.

To match its remarkable acceleration, Bubbly has beefed up its management team significantly with the hiring of three new executives: Silicon Valley product veteran David Sloan to head apps products, former Rocket Internet Asia CTO Matteo Pelati to head platform engineering, and former Fusion Garage CTO Andrew Alcock to head apps engineering.

“There are a lot of exciting changes going on for Bubbly right now as we continue to expand into new markets, acquire new users at a phenomenal rate, and maintain our edge as a cross-platform social service that accommodates the over 90 percent of more than four billion consumers in emerging Asian markets that are still using feature phones,” Clayton said.

“Most social services have chosen to ignore this massive market, but it excites us that we are able to bridge global gaps by allowing users from both smartphones and feature phones to post voice messages as well as ‘like’ and comment on each other’s posts,” Clayton added.
