IBM, Bankers Institute push for smarter banking

-

MANILA, Philippines - IBM Phils. supported the Bankers Institute of the Philippines’ recent 26th national convention showcasing over 200 participants, new innovative (hardware, software and services) solutions, and opportunities for a smarter banking.

“Over the last 18 months, financial institutions around the world have turned to IBM to become more viable in the new economy. The fact that so many banks are doubling-down on their investments in technology is a healthy sign of recovery — and an important indicator of better times ahead,” said Leo Capinpin, country manager for the financial services sector of IBM Phils.

“A smarter bank anticipates client needs and delivers innovative products faster and more consistently than the competition. It has full visibility, in real-time, of its risk position and responds quickly and nimbly to changes in market conditions,” Capinpin said.

“IBM has the industry expertise, technology and solutions to help BAIPHIL realize its vision to empower the local banking industry through continuing education, innovation and research,” he added.

BAIPHIL first vice president Agnes Brillantes-Santos affirmed that technology is indeed important to their industry, as improves the way banks deliver their services to the clients, promotes efficiency from within and provides cost-efficient solutions.

She said this explains why it was only appropriate that BAIPHIL made technology a major part of its biennial convention held at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City last March 18-21.

The National Convention brought together over 200 members of the Institute from Metro Manila and provinces and provided a venue for enhanced learning on the developments and updates that have impact and relevance on the banking industry. The event featured general and technical sessions covering a wide range of topics, best practices and exhibit booths with interactive presentations led by IBM and IBM Business Partners. Also present were other service providers and information technology, software solutions / applications and telecommunication suppliers, among others.
