No more unwanted reflections on your mobile home screen

-

MANILA, Philippines - There was a time when, under the blinding daytime brightness, cellphone users would painstakingly position the device in a direction where the light is just right as they text away.

Now, mobile phone users can just sit back and fire away with text messages to family and friends or enjoy outdoor applications, sans the difficulty of finding the right light under the sun or getting irritating reflections on the home screen.

Nokia’s ClearBlack display makes it possible for users to enjoy the brightness of their mobile phone screen without unwanted reflections from the display. This is done by placing a polarizer under the touch window so that light reflects only from the top layer or the touch window, and not from multiple layers of the display. In a conventional touch display, the polarizer is placed further down in the layers.

The brightness of the phone screen with ClearBlack display is equivalent to manually increasing the display brightness. But what makes this special display technology stand out is that it results in better battery management, as well as preserving the “blackness” of the screen. Icons appear sharper and colors appear more intense as the contrast with the black screen is stronger

“With the ClearBlack display, mobile phone users enjoy an improved, more optimized outdoor visibility with lower power consumption. Users need not adjust the device screen brightness manually as with conventional touch display, which also requires more power than the ClearBlack display does,” said Benoit Nalin, general manager for Nokia Philippines.

Users can fully benefit from the ClearBlack display technology when using mobile applications that are used outdoors, such Ovi Maps and navigation solutions.

ClearBlack display also reflects light indoors, which is especially useful in places like bright office premises.

The ClearBlack display technology is available on the Nokia C6-01, a compact touch-screen device designed for the social networkers on the go, and on the upcoming Nokia E7, the much-anticipated business smartphone that boasts of touch screen and QWERTY capabilities.
