Acer, eMachines introduce 2 new products

MANILA, Philippines - Acer and sister brand eMachines unveiled last week at Greenbelt in Makati City two new products powered by new, high-speed AMD dual-core processors and chipsets.

Leading the two new products is the new Acer Aspire One 522 netbook. It’s powered by the newest class of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the Dual-Core C-50 processor from AMD’s Fusion Family of APUs coupled with the AMD A50M Fusion Controller Hub. A 2GB DDR3 memory completes the triumvirate of processing power.

Graphics-wise, the Aspire One 522 powers up your graphics needs and High-Definition Internet experience with an AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics that supports an impressive mix of graphics technologies like Video Decoder 3 (UVD3), OpenCL 1.1, OpenGL 3.1, OpenEXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, Shader Model 5.0, Microsoft DirectX 11.

Brilliant images come from the 10.1-inch 1280 x 720 (WXGA) high-resolution, high-brightness LED-backlit TFT LCD screen.

It has an HDMI port, a 250GB SATA hard drive, Acer InviLink Nplify 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Acer’s CrystalEye Web camera.

The Aspire One 522 weighs just a tad more than one kilo yet promises to lasts up to five hours on a full charge with its lithium-ion battery.

Launched at the same event was the eMD644 laptop from eMachines. Possessing the newest Fusion family of APUs that employs next-generation applications introduced by AMD, it generates more computing muscle for an affordable notebook computer than ever before.

The heart of this machine lies in the AMD Dual-Core E-350 processor and the AMD A50M Fusion Controller Hub chipset that helps enhance the eMachines eMD644’s performance on-the-go yet uses less power to make it truly cost efficient.

Graphics-wise, the eMachines eMD644 boasts an AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics card and supports a slew of graphics technologies such as Unified Video Decoder 3 (UVD3), OpenCL 1.1, OpenGL 3.1, Open EXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, ShaderModel 5.0 and Microsoft DirectX 11, among others.

Its 14-inch high-resolution, high-brightness LED-backlit TFT LCD with glare panel display screen and HDMI port enforcing High-Def output complement the eMachines eMD644’s graphic power.

The eMachines eMD644 comes with a 2GB DDR3 memory module, a whopping 500GB SATA hard drive, a built-in 8x DVD-SuperMulti double-layer optical drive, as well as network interfaces and wireless LAN capabilities.
