Citi named Best Internet Bank in RP
MANILA, Philippines - For the sixth time since 2004, Citi Philippines has once again been recognized as the Best Consumer Internet Bank in the Philippines by the prestigious Global Finance magazine in its annual World’s Best Internet Banks awards.
Citi received this award in recognition of the strength of its strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and website design and functionality.
The bank also received its fourth straight win as the Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank in the Philippines.
This award highlights Citi’s continued innovation and excellence in providing online treasury management and trade solutions that support the evolving needs of its clients.
Citibank Philippines has been consistently recognized by Global Finance magazine, which has been running the World’s Best Internet Banks awards for the past 11 years.
Sanjiv Vohra, country head and Citi country officer for the Philippines, said, “We are honored that the breadth of our capabilities in Internet banking has been recognized by Global Finance magazine. We intend to continue to invest in this technology. Providing our clients with ways to bank through remote channels has always been a priority, and we are committed to innovating and looking for ways to provide convenient and secure platforms that serve the transaction needs of our clients.”
Citi Asia-Pacific bagged a total of six country awards in “Best Consumer Internet Bank,” scoring wins for Guam, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines.
In the “Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank” category, Citi scored wins in Australia, Bangladesh, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The awards represent the significance of the Internet in the changing face of the modern, global marketplace, and recognize the banks that have excelled in embracing the new challenges that come with this constant, evolutionary process.
“In less than a decade, the Internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank,” says Joseph Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance. “The continuing improvements in Internet offerings represented by this year’s entries show that more significant Internet banking developments are still ahead of us.”
In the Philippines, Citi pioneered Internet Banking when it launched Citibank Online in 2001.
As the leader in the online banking space, Citi provides its consumer banking clients with a number of exclusive services and features, which include real-time transfers to Citi accounts all over the world, online transfers to other banks both in the Philippines and abroad, and online rewards redemption for credit cardholders.
Citi’s innovation has continued into the mobile space, where it is the only bank that offers a fully Web-based mobile banking facility that is available through all phones with a mobile browser, without the need to download applications and regardless of what telecom company the client subscribes to.
It is estimated that over 50 percent of more than one million Citi retail and card customers in the Philippines, and an estimated 35 percent of Citi customers based in the Asia-Pacific periodically access their accounts via Citibank Online Citi’s Global Transaction Services that support over 65,000 clients in more than 100 countries.
