Akari goes green with new LED lighting products

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a “green” light to an eco-friendly future as top lighting, electrical and energy products provider Akari launched its latest LED-based lighting products.

With the theme “The Future in LED,” Akari presented energy-efficient lighting solutions and rechargeable batteries that aim to help save the environment while promoting cost savings on electricity among consumers.

Akari showcased its latest products at the 15th Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition (Worldbex) held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City recently.

“Through the years, Akari has become synonymous to energy-saving products which truly represented the company as a socially responsible organization. With the launch of our new energy-efficient products, we’re reiterating this commitment with the aim to instill in the consciousness of our clients in the building and construction industry as well as consumers the importance of conserving energy to contribute in helping save the environment,” said Christopher Tiu, chief executive officer of Carlson Corp., the maker of Akari, during the unveiling of the new products at Worldbex.

Expo visitors got to witness the benefits of LED or light emitting diode lighting solutions and rechargeable technology from Akari.

LED lamps are solid-state lamps that use light emitting diodes as the source of light. Since the light output of individual light emitting diodes is small compared to incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps, multiple diodes are used together that emit light in a very small bond of wavelengths, producing strongly colored light.

Used for both general lighting and special purpose lighting, LED lamps have no glass tubes to break, and their internal parts are rigidly supported, making them resistant to vibration and impact.

They contain no mercury and had no minimum current needed to sustain lamp operation. Most of all, they are expected to last 25 to 30 years under normal use and will not dim overtime while saving on energy and maintenance costs.

According to Tiu, LED lights’ dependability and durability have been tested in the market in the most extreme of market conditions.

They can be used in varied conditions – either in tropical forests or in sub-zero temperatures, in dry or wet environments. LED lights have proven their worth in terms of brightness and efficiency in power supply-controlled situations.

Among the new LED products and outdoor lighting solutions showcased at the expo were Accent Radar MR16 lamp, Superstar MR16 lamp, Round 150 Downlight, Array, Rocket Par 30 reflector lamp, and Tube.

Other cost-saving, eco-friendly products presented by Akari were rechargeable batteries.

Tiu said, “In Akari’s continuous quest to be at the forefront in the world’s shift to renewable energy and cost-saving alternatives, it is venturing into safe rechargeable energy for batteries which promotes high performance in energy production, savings, and environment-friendly features.”

Akari’s lineup of rechargeable batteries – composed of the nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride, and ready-to-use batteries – can last more than four times longer than current alkaline batteries in electronic devices that have high-power consumption.

They can be recharged and reused for up to 1,000 cycles, giving huge savings in the long run. They also do not contain hazardous materials like mercury, cadmium or lead acid, making them eco-friendly.

With its launch of new energy-efficient products for 2010, Akari reaffirms its position as one of the country’s most environment-conscious companies.

Akari is an industry pioneer in the lighting solutions market with over 40 years of experience in providing high-quality, world-class and energy-efficient lighting, electrical and energy products to homes and commercial establishments.
