Kenney cites Convergys' growth in RP

MANILA, Philippines - US Ambassador Kristie Kenney cited the rapid growth of Convergys Corp. in the Philippines during her recent meeting with its top executives.

Marife Zamora, Convergys vice president and country manager, and other senior executives welcomed Kenney to the Convergys One facility in Makati City.

The Convergys executives took the ambassador on a tour of the building, highlighting Convergys’ specialized communication training tools and career opportunities available to employees.

During her visit, Kenney visited several production floors where she spoke to contact center agents about their experiences working for Convergys and their future aspirations as participants in Convergys’ talent management program.

Recently, President Arroyo and Kenney were the guests of honor as Convergys celebrated the opening of its largest contact center facility in the Philippines in Glorietta 5.

The facility will bring about 3,500 new jobs to Metro Manila. Glorietta 5 spans more than 17,000 square meters and is situated in the midst of the 500-tenant Glorietta Mall.

Living up to its reputation of being a trendsetting global leader in relationship management, Convergys also launched the “Wear Your Dreams Campaign” with Bench, presenting a fashion show featuring Convergys agents from sites across the country.

At the inauguration, Kenney made a YouTube video with Clark Handy, senior vice president for global human resources, showing her support for Convergys’ dedicated employees.

Within six years, Convergys has established 12 contact center facilities in the Philippines - seven in Metro Manila, three in Cebu City, one in Bacolod City, and one in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

With about 18,000 employees today, Convergys in the Philippines is well on its way to surpassing the 20,000-employee mark in the near future.

“Convergys contact center agents continue to deliver superior relationship management services on behalf of our clients and that’s why there’s a global demand for their expertise,” said Zamora.

“The continued demand from our blue chip international clients to place their operations either partially or fully in the Philippines is a testament to the quality of service our agents provide on a daily basis,” she added.

Convergys, as defined by its core set of values, is committed to building from within by emphasizing talent development among its employees.

Through a number of training and development programs, employees can build a future with Convergys and move into bigger roles throughout the company.
