The digital world of Pentax
MANILA, Philippines - To reinforce Pentax’s reputation as a leading brand in cameras and accessories, Super East Asia (SEA), Pentax’s distributor in the country, recently started its promotion and introduced to the market its latest products and digital innovations.
Pentax is a leading Japanese brand of world renown because of its unequalled photographic quality. It has its own lens infrastructure with both compact cameras (point-and-shoot) and DSLR (professional) line-ups.
Pentax has its own exclusive design, and also its own “engine processor technology” (the technology of writing information into the camera’s memory card) called the Pentax Real Image Engine or PRIME.
With more than 64 million digital cameras sold last year alone, digital photography is more popular than ever and the age of digital photography is here to stay.
Waterproof cameras have always involved significant compromises in image quality so we tend not to take them seriously.
Taking the many concerns of consumers, Pentax is giving the market Optio W60, which is waterproof up to 13 feet and can withstand temperatures of as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit (cold-proof) for as long as two hours.
The Pentax Optio W60 is also dust-proof and fabulous for heavy travelers.
The Pentax Optio E70, on the other hand, is a 10-megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. Its main feature is its Triple Anti-shake Reduction: Pixel Track SR, High-Sensitivity SR and Movie SR.
When recording still images, the Optio E70’s new Pixel Track SR mode effectively compensates for camera shake by processing affected images with exclusive software, while the High-Sensitivity SR mode detects low-lighting conditions in still-image shooting by automatically raising the sensitivity to as high as ISO 6400 to set a higher shutter speed. This effectively minimizes the adverse effects of camera shake and subject shake.
With the Movie SR mode during movie shooting, the Optio E70 prevents blurry motion picture images.
Meanwhile, the Pentax Optio P70 offers a variety of user-friendly features. It is the lightest but also the strongest entry in Pentax’s latest round of compact digital cameras. A 12-megapixel resolution and a 4x optical zoom guarantee that every picture is sharp and clear.
However, a feature most exciting about the Pentax Optio P70 is its Vertical Snap capability, which facilitates vertical position shooting. It allows the photographer to turn the power on and off and zoom the lens in and out with simple push-button operation on the back panel.
In addition, all icons on the LCD monitor are automatically rotated for vertical position viewing. This new mode provides the user with the same ease of operation as a mobile phone.
Pentax also takes pride in releasing the Optio M60, a compact camera that fits perfectly in the palm of the hand. It is equipped with high-speed face recognition AF & AE function.
High-speed face recognition is useful when taking photos of people, as it automatically sets the focus and exposure of up to 32 faces all at once.
The Pentax Optio M50 also has much to offer and will spoil the photographer with its numerous functions, not the least of which is the extended – now up to five times – zoom range that gives assurance of successful telephoto shots.
With this lens, an angle of view equivalent to those of an approximately 36 to 180-mm lens in 35-mm format can be obtained, thus allowing the user to take zooming photographs for landscapes, memorial photographs, portraits, etc.
In addition, using this together with the digital zoom function (approximately 1x to 5.1x) makes photography with a maximum zoom equivalent to 25.5x possible.
And for those who are done with compact digital cameras and now want to explore digital photography with the use of single lens reflex camera, the Pentax K-m DSLR is a sure must-have.
Designed primarily for entry-level digital SLR photographers, the Pentax K-m offers simplified, user-friendly operation, especially for women who want an easy-to-maneuver and lightweight camera.
The Pentax K-m was developed for first-time digital SLR users with its upgraded version of the Pentax-original Auto Picture mode, which automatically detects the type of subject or scene and sets the proper shooting mode for the photographer.
It also features a host of other advanced features and sophisticated functions, including the innovative in-body Shake Reduction mechanism.
It also offers an efficient control system, which positions most of the buttons and levers on the camera’s grip side, making it easier for first-time digital SLR users to operate the camera.
