“Luis was excited and nervous in the final competition but for a first-time player in the international scene, he did exceptionally well,” said Michael Vinluan, general manager of Philippine E-Sports Entertainment Network, local organizer of the World Cyber Games. “It was a close finish and we’re very proud of his performance.”
The Philippine contingent to the WCG Asian Championship also included veteran Need for Speed (NFS) player Israel Magante, who landed fourth overall.
Chester Reyes competed in FIFA, Philip Ortiz played in Virtual Fighter 5, and Team Mineski in DOTA.

With well over one million players from more than 70 countries, the World Cyber Games is widely regarded as video gaming’s premier tournament.
Featuring online and offline events held throughout the world, the yearlong WCG series attracted more than 1.5 million competitors worldwide in 2007.
The 2007 WCG Grand Finals in Seattle, Washington broke new ground as more than 29 million people tuned in to watch the competition unfold in real-time, marking the largest global, live satellite broadcast for an e-sports event.
The World Cyber Games was also recently recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the World’s Largest Video Game Competition with over 1.5 million competitors worldwide.
