New HP notebooks show the fine lines in computing

- Alma Buelva -

At a time when many consumers are having their notebook computers wrapped or masked with temporary protective plastic covers that come in different designs and colors, HP Philippines introduced a new range of notebook computers that renders both the design and protection permanent and better looking.

The latest HP Pavilion dv2000 and HP Pavilion dv2600 have replaced the old black, gray or silver top covers with more playful patterns called HP Imprints. The designs make use of willowy graphical lines that soften the otherwise cold industrial look of the notebook computer.

The new HP Imprint patterns are the result of extensive researches and surveys conducted across seven countries in the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America, said Dette Nacario, country manager of the personal systems group of HP Philippines.

“The latest HP Imprints will make our notebooks establish a more personal connection with their users,” she added.

HP executives said the HP Imprints designs were based on inspirational images and geographic elements provided by nature, from influences in everyday life as well as from beautiful objects like the Japanese silk prints.

For the latest HP Pavilion consumer PC, an HP Imprint called Radiance was used to show subtle lines circling around the notebook’s top cover, while the Special Edition Pavilion series has the Verve design which runs more fluid lines across the notebook’s cover.

The HP Imprint case design technology used in all the latest HP notebooks integrates rich graphics onto a hard-coat, high-gloss surface through advanced molding and film transfer process. The film which contains the ink, graphic and color of the design is compressed onto the notebook’s cover during the injection-molding process. The covers with the cosmetic designs are then baked for 10 seconds to cure the ink that will give the notebook an extra hard coat surface. The HP Imprint provides a more scratch-resistant surface better than traditional paint, executives said.

Meanwhile, HP also introduced a new Compaq Presario notebook PC that shows off, for the first time, the new Compaq logo complemented by an HP imprint called Trace, a line pattern similar to a human fingerprint.
