ASUS M5N: Superior mobility, splendid design
January 16, 2006 | 12:00am
The M5N is part of the high-end series of premium lightweight ASUS notebook models such as the W5, M5 and V6.
Designed for the fashionista yuppie with a knack for sophistication, this just might be the right personal computer for you. It is small and light yet distinctly designed in sophisticated elegance.
Sturdy enough to travel with, the ASUS M5N is a wonderful computer to tote around and show off. With its diminutive size and weight, it is easy to carry and slip into a designer bag.
The M5N recently won the German IF Award, the foremost competition for industrial design. It integrated the unique rimless design between the touch pad and the palm rest.
With no rim dividing the touch pad and palm rest, typing and navigating the cursor is one fluid operation while making annoying dust accumulation a thing of the past.
Consider these features of the ASUS M5N: Centrino 1.6/Centrino 1.73; 512MB DDR RAM; 40 GB hard disk; 12.1" TFT active LCD display; embedded Intel 855 GM VGA; built-in DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive; Windows XP (Home Edition); three-in-one Smart Card Reader; Asus Power4 Gear technology; Microsoft Works/Trend PC-Cillin Anti-Virus; and Intel Pro Wireless 2200LAN BG.
With its carbon fiber alloy that is 120 percent stronger than conventional material, the M5N is light and tough enough to take anywhere.
Incorporated with new 90NM generation Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, the M5N provides enhanced performance of up to 30 percent and wireless connectivity at lower power levels compared with conventional mobile solutions.
Supported with ASUS Power4 Gear power-saving technology, it can work continuously for up to 7.9 hours.
ASUS Power4 Gear intelligently adjusts CPU speed according to system load. And with an ultra-slim 9.5-mm optical drive (conventional notebooks support 12.7-mm drives), it is successfully slimmed down to a nimble 1.55 kg.
Listen to music, play games, watch DVD movies, burn data onto a CD with the M5N.
Last but not the least, the M5N incorporates the Intel 855GME chipset and DDR 333 memory, a combination that delivers processor and hard drive scalability, improved reliability and enhanced performance never seen before.
