November 7, 2005 | 12:00am
For two consecutive years now, Sharp has again topped the list of producers of LCD TVs in the world.
DisplaySearch, a leading market research and consulting firm for the flat panel display (FPD) industry, announced the results of its recent study that shows Sharp leading all LCD TV manufacturers consistently from 2004 to the first half of 2005.
A total of 40 LCD TV manufacturers from around the world were included in DisplaySearchs study for the worldwide shipment of LCD TV brands.
The study showed a steady increase of unit shipment since last year, with the Sharp brand consistently leading all shippers.
By the first half of this year, Sharp recorded a market share of 19.43 percent.
Last year, Sharp also recorded more than five million units of its AQUOS LCD TV spread over its manufacturing bases and subsidiaries in Japan, Spain, Mexico and China.
This accounted for one-third of the worlds flat-panel TVs out of the total worldwide demand of 14 million units from 2001 to 2004.
Sharps leading LCD TV model in the Philippines is the AQUOS line, which began initial manufacturing in January 2001 in Japan.
This specific model is capable of projecting high-quality images for home entertainment because of its excellent resolution. It has received high ratings for its thinner profile, lighter weight, and smaller footprint.
