The popular massively multi-player, role-playing online game (MMROPG), Philippine Ragna-rok Online (pRO), gets even more exciting as the best and strongest players in the game vie for the chance to represent the country in the 1st Ragnarok World Championship to be held in Seoul, Korea on July 17-18.
The only one of its kind in the local gaming scene, pRO brings together thousands of online computer gamers across the country and allows them to enjoy a single game, simultaneously and in real time.
The game was introduced by Level Up!, the countrys first local online games publisher.
In pRO, players get to create their own adventure in the virtual world of Midgard, choosing a role as a Swordsman, Archer, Mage, Thief, Merchant or Acolyte.
They form online barkadas or "guilds" who battle against each other to gain possession of highly prized castles or "agits." This showdown, which happens every Wednesday and Saturday, is called a "guild siege."
A series of guild sieges were held during the whole month of May to determine the qualifiers for the Ragnarok World Cham-pionship Philippine Finals.
Every time a guild occupied an agit, they earned points which determined their eligibility to move to the next level of competition.
The top four guilds on each server (Chaos, Loki, Iris, Odin, Fenrir and Sarah) will then face each other for the Server Eliminations, which will start tomorrow.
The six server champions, together with the Wild Card winner, or the guild voted in by other players to participate in the finals, will then prove their mettle in the Ragnarok World Championship Philippine Finals to be held on June 19-20 at the Folk Arts Theater.
This much-awaited event will be accompanied by other highlights such as the Ragnarok Cosplay competition, an art competition and performances by Parokya ni Edgar, Moonstar88, Kamikaze, Nina and 7 Shots.
Finally, the two teams that emerge victorious after the two-day face-off will be flown to Korea, the birthplace of Ragnarok Online, where they will get to challenge the best guilds from other countries such as Korea, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.
