Philips’ key rings win Innovation Awards

-
The Consumer Electronics Asso-ciation (CEA) recognized Philips Electronics’ leadership in innovation and design by giving the company 21 Innovation Awards – more than any other consumer electronics company – at the recent 2004 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas.

Philips’ Key010, 128-MB digital camera key ring, and the Key019 were cited as "Best of Innovations" at the show, whose panel of judges included prominent industry designers, engineers and journalists.

The awards were given based on the products’ user value, aesthetics, contributions to the quality of life, and innovative qualities.

"It is an honor to be recognized for 21 Innovation Awards as well as two ‘Best of Innovations’ awards," said Des Power, senior vice president and general manager for regional business management and marketing of Philips Consumer Electronics North America.

"Continuing a heritage of 100,000 patents and more than 10,000 inventions, these awards demonstrate Philips’ continued commitment to provide consumers with sophisticated designs incorporating the latest innovative technologies," Power added.

Philips bagged Innovation Awards in nine categories, namely accessories, audio, computer software, digital imaging, eco design, home appliances, integrated home systems, satellite systems and video.

Building upon the highly successful 64-MB digital camera key ring, Philips Key010 features extended usage with 128MB of memory, providing consumers with storage for more than 300 digital images.

Sporting sleek magnesium casing, the highly portable and wearable key ring enables consumers to capture picture-perfect moments. Featuring one-button operation, the Key010 offers 2.0 mega pixel images, ensuring users clear picture quality results to pass along to family and friends.

By removing the cap at the end of the ring, they can easily connect it to their PC’s USB port and transfer image and data files instantly with no software required.

Enabling consumers to cap-ture special mo-ments in a conve-nient, fun manner, the new Key019 feat-ures 24 minutes of continuous MPEG4 vi-deo recording.

The Key019 inclu-des status LEDs to indicate operation sta-tus, allowing users to quickly determine if the unit is on, charging, recording or trans-ferring data.
