AMA: A major global partner of iCarnegie

AMA, Asia’s pioneer and largest IT-based education provider, is also one of the biggest global partners of iCarnegie, an affiliate of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, iCarnegie training director Norman Brier said.

Through the Internet and with its global partners, iCarnegie offers various courseware modules in software development whose curricular contents are always world-class and in line with the demands of industry.

AMA is the exclusive Philippine partner of iCarnegie. Launched in July last year, over 20,000 students are now enrolled in the program in AMA’s 42 campuses nationwide.

Any ICT or ICT-enabled professional with an iCarnegie certification is guaranteed to have world-class skills empowering him or her to successfully seek employment in his/her particular field of ICT expertise globally.

He or she is also certified to have acquired a deeper understanding of fundamental principles that underlie his/her skills in current tools and technologies.

AMA is also the only institution in the Philippines authorized to administer the certifying examinations locally.

The courseware consists of modules in advanced Java programming, object-oriented design, networks and systems level programming, database and e-commerce applications development, and software management.

They are integrated into AMA’s programs leading to degrees in Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Information Technology, and Bachelor in Information Management.

Brier said AMA is one of only three global partners which have their own cadre of master trainers since most other partners rely solely on iCarnegie’s in-house corps of academicians.

Early this year, Brier personally directed the training of AMA’s 20 master trainers who, in turn, trained 120 other instructors.

Brier, who is currently in the Philippines to monitor the partnership’s progress, expressed iCarnegie’s satisfaction so far, saying that this pool of master instructors consists of faculty members considered the very best in AMA.
