Unisys bares support for EMC storage systems

-
BLUE BELL, Pa. – Unisys, building on its 10-year relationship with information storage leader EMC Corp., has introduced the CLARiiON CX400 and CX600 storage systems for scalable and high-performance enterprise storage.

These new systems establish the CLARiiON CX family as the mid-tier storage systems leader, offering the broadest range of price and performance advantages.

Unisys markets EMC CLARiiON and Symmetrix systems as the preferred storage complement to both Unisys ES7000 and ClearPath enterprise servers.

With substantial speed, capacity and connectivity improvements, the CLARiiON CX family helps Unisys customers in industries such as finance and government take maximum advantage of the high-performance and input/output throughput characteristics of the Unisys ES7000 server.

Mainframe-class features, including 32-way scalability and 96 I/0 slots, make the Unisys ES7000 the most scalable platform based on Microsoft Windows and Intel technology available today.

"Unisys ES7000 customers are pushing the performance limits of Microsoft- and Intel-based server technology," said Terry Richardson, EMC vice president of reseller sales.

"The EMC CLARiiON CX family complements the ES7000 in performance, scalability, functionality and availability, which are the criteria that matter most to users when deploying this solution to support their business-critical applications," Richardson added.

The CLARiiON CX600 is designed to support data-intensive applications such as business intelligence and OLTP, as well as provide efficient backup and disaster recovery capabilities in support of customer business continuance goals.

The CX600 is also appropriate for storage consolidations, supporting both direct-attachment and Storage Area Network (SAN) attachment, to single or heterogeneous hosts with a variety of operating systems.

"The EMC CLARiiON Model CX600 is a completely new breed of advanced storage system, the kind our customers need to drive Unisys ES7000 servers to their true performance potential," said Kevin McHugh, vice president of Unisys Platform Marketing.

"It is this sort of innovation that has made EMC the number-one storage system demanded by our customers," he added.
