The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) leads the coordination of the First National E-Learning Conference to be held on Aug. 1-2 at the Manila Hotel.

The conference, with the theme "E-Learning Toward a Knowledge-based Society," is a project of the Office of the President and is organized by the Information Technology and E-Commerce Council.

The event aims to bring together educators interested in exploring the potentials of using new technologies in education. It will be a venue for sharing experiences, launching collaborative activities and setting goals for future development efforts.

Five plenary speeches are scheduled along with parallel sessions on e-learning, education and technology.

Other institutions represented in the event include the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators and Technology Foundation of the Philippines.

Teachers, administrators and staff of educational institutions are invited to submit papers discussing the conference theme. Registration can be online or at the site. For more details, visit the UPOU website at www.upou.org.
