What made the grand opening so special was that it was held online and not in a physical location. Those who attended the event logged on to http://www.LabayenPhotography.com. Gig Harbor Mayor Gretchen Wilbert’s speech, as well as the ribbon cutting were held online and in lieu of gifts and prizes were given away. There was also a treasure hunt and an online quiz. Also featured will be Gus Labayen’s interpretation of Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune, as performed on a Kawai Concert Grand Piano. Finally, the online magazine will feature events around the Gig Harbor area, including the Maritime Gig.
Being a virtual company, the company has to be creative in staging a grand opening. Since it needed to reach out to family and friends overseas, specially in the Philippines, it can’t just have a physical event limited to Gig Harbor. The virtual grand opening was a truly a World-Wide-Web event!
