India’s fastest growing IT school opens in Makati

-
APTECH Computer Education, India’s fastest growing school of information technology and Asia’s largest provider of computer education and training, is opening its newest Philippine branch in Makati City.

The new learning center at the Madison building along Arnaiz Avenue (formerly Pasay Road) will offer both career and short-term courses for undergraduates, professionals and IT enthusiasts, in tandem with technology partners Oracle, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Microsoft and Adobe.

These include courses in e-commerce, m-commerce, the Internet, software development, IT projects management, database and networking.

According to Kennedy Co, managing director of Ascent Network Solutions, Philippine licensee of APTECH Computer Education, the school hopes to replicate its success in India, where it expanded aggressively over the past 15 years to help fuel that country’s development as a hotbed for globally competitive IT talent.

"Without a doubt, the Philippines has a similar potential for developing first-class IT talent," Co says. "Given the proper training, I’m sure many Filipinos will excel in IT."

APTECH Computer Education’s flagship course offering is the Certified Computer Professional Program designed for high school graduates and college undergraduates. Those who finish the program earn a certification recognized by major IT companies around the world.

APTECH Computer Education also offers Thomson Prometric Testing, which certifies individual competence in vendor-specific technologies.

Then Vice President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo opened the first APTECH Computer Education school at the Ortigas Center in 1999.

APTECH Computer Education, formerly a division of Apple Industries, started in 1986 as a one-center operation in Mumbai. It now has over 1,500 schools spread across more than 30 countries. It also provides training over the Internet through APTECH Online.

Aside from its IT curriculum, APTECH also offers a wide range of related products and services, including content conversion, which involves the transfer of various data into electronic formats such as CD-ROMs and webpages; software development, consultancy, multimedia packaging, application services and graphics design.
