NSO brings services online via e-Census

-
The National Statistics Office (NSO) paves the way toward e-governance as it brings its services closer to the public through e-Census, the web component of the Civil Registry System (CRS).

Today, e-Census starts serving the public as it allows online users to request records of birth, marriage and death online anytime, from anywhere at their convenience. Moreover, requested documents will be delivered by courier at the applicant‘s doorstep.

Future capabilities of the e-Census will allow requests for Certificate of No Marriage and viewing of tabulations of vital statistics.

"The NSO Civil Registry System Information Technology Project enters an important phase with the launch of e-Census," says NSO Administrator Tomas Africa. "The Web-based facility will provide Filipinos within and outside the Philippines an alternative means to obtain civil registry documents."

The procedure in using e-Census begins with the online user logging on to www.e-Census.com.ph. To request for a birth, marriage or death certificate, the user selects "Create new application."

The user then provides the required information and accomplishes the online application form. He may add other requests for certificates. Then he can print the acknowledgment page or jot down the request reference/batch request number. This number is used when paying or inquiring about the status of the application online.

Payments can be done at any Metrobank branch nationwide. The NSO processes the request and the courier drops off the request right at the applicant’s home or office.

Aside from civil registry documents, e-Census also provides general information, request status query and, in the future, tabulations of vital statistics.

General information features a brief background of the CRS-ITP, the services of NSO through e-Census, procedures in remitting payment, tips and reminders regarding e-Census, a directory of Census Serbilis Centers nationwide which will be available in the future release of the Web facility, and links to selected features found in the NSO website.

The status query function allows inquiry into the status of requests for civil registry documents. The online user only has to supply the information required, such as the full name of the owner of the document requested or the institutions, and the request reference number for individual requests or the batch number for batch requests to view the status of all requests submitted.

The feature on the tabulation of vital statistics provides options to view sample vital statistics, send request for special tabulations through e-mail and order reports of vital statistics and other NSO publications.

With e-Census, NSO hopes to reach more people and bring its services to where and when they are needed.
