Top companies tap SISFU for computer graphics, animation

-
The world-class knowledge and skills on computer graphics and animation taught at the Southville International School affiliated with Foreign Universities (SISFU) have been tapped by some of the country’s top firms for the animation requirements of the launching of their products and services.

The SISFU has done animation work for Philips for its DVD player; Splash Manufacturing, for an audio visual presentation; Mobil Phils.; and OHM, the latest men’s personal care product, among other firms.

SISFU president Roger Bartholomew said the choice of SISFU by leading firms to handle their animation and graphic requirements is a recognition not only of the world-class standard of its academic system, but also of skills’ specialization in its curriculum.

He cited computer graphics and animation as among SISFU’s most in-demand course offerings.

Bartholomew said the animation projects are actually done by SISFU computer graphics and animation students who are only in their first and second semesters into the course.

"In today’s working environment, companies have second thoughts in hiring people who do not have a specific working environment," he said. "(These firms) normally cannot afford to spend time and money training them, knowing that as soon as they’re trained, they’ll take off and go to another company that will pay them more."

SISFU offers only subjects that are industry- or course-relevant, which explains why students do not have to take up minor or general education subjects as they immediately focus on skills’ specialization that will qualify them to earn an international diploma only after less than two years of study.

SISFU is now accepting applicants for the January 2001 enrollment. For inquiries, call Janice Palis or Joyce Cudale at 820-9181 or 820-5952.
