Pointwest showcases Phl IT talent in NSTW

MANILA, Philippines - Pointwest Technologies Corp., the top fully Filipino-owned IT-BPM company in the country, is one of the exhibitors at the five-day National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) starting today at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Pointwest has augmented its core IT services of application development, application management, and independent software testing, extending these to the Digital SMAC platform – Cloud and Mobility. These are showcased at the NSTW.

Among the new service lines include mobile strategy consulting, application design and development, conversion from iOS to Android and vice versa, and independent mobile app testing.

Pointwest also offers its Cloud DRP solutions and services, as well as analytics services for a framework that will help in assessing, processing and deriving business values from enterprise data.

Pointwest can also migrate legacy applications, optimizing these for the cloud and mobile platform, especially for applications that are wished to be asset-light.

“Pointwest was founded on the belief that Filipino talent in the IT and BPM fields are at par, if not superior, to their peers globally,” said Pointwest president Ma. Cristina Coronel. “The NSTW allows us to showcase how far we, as a fully Filipino-owned firm, has gone with that belief.”

Coronel said that ironically the services of a homegrown IT-BPM company like Pointwest are more recognized and valued abroad than it is in the Philippines.

For more than 10 years, Pointwest has been providing services to top Fortune 500 companies, including a top US airline, a large US retail company, a pharmacy benefit management company, and a big media company.

In a recent interview, Coronel lamented the fact that government agencies often get foreign IT firms for their projects, when local talent is readily available.

“There were also instances when a big local conglomerate got a foreign IT firm as its vendor for major local IT projects,” Coronel said. “It’s sad because right here, we have people who can do it just as good as the foreign partner, if not better.”

The NSTW is one of the major local science and technology exhibitions. It is organized by the Department of Science and Technology, which promises that this year’s NSTW, which occupies the entire SMX for the first time, will be the biggest yet. Some 50,000 students, academics, professionals, government officials and business owners are expected to attend the five-day event.

Since its founding in 2003, Pointwest has consistently provided best-in-class IT and BPM services to clients that include members of the Fortune 500 as well as top Philippine companies.

Pointwest has helped companies in various industries such as transportation and logistics, healthcare, banking, and utilities. It also offers digital services like cloud and mobile application development that enables enterprises to leapfrog into the digital world.
