Held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City, the occasion marked the unveiling of the Nutrilite Positrim protein bars and drink mixes, the latest additions to the family of health supplements under Nutrilite, a leading global brand of multivitamin and mineral products and a winner of the 2005 Readers Digest SuperBrand Award.
The highlight of the event was a lecture by Dr. Lynne Connor, Amway senior scientist, on attaining and maintaining good health, balanced nutrition, proper weight, and exercise regimen.
Connor has over nine years of experience in the design, development and testing of weight-management products that provide nutrients essential to maintaining optimum health.
According to Connor, optimal health is a combination of several factors positive mental attitude, proper nutrition, daily physical exercise, and adequate rest.
Admittedly the most complex of these is nutrition because of a general lack of awareness and understanding of what diet is best and how the food that one eats impacts tremendously on ones overall health condition.
Connor recommended a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, and six or more servings of whole grains, foods low in fat, cholesterol, sugar and sodium, with alcohol in moderation.
She also explained the workings of body weight, the role of calories, and the benefits of meal replacements or supplements.
Because most people have very little idea of the number of calories they consume, Connor said supplements aid in compliance with low-calorie diets, promote optimal energy balance, help improve blood cholesterol and glucose levels, promote healthy long-term weight control, and are convenient to use.
As part of the new Amway weight management system, the new Nutrilite dietary supplements Positrim protein bars and drink mixes were developed to provide with the properly measured intake of calories and nutrients that an average adult individual needs on a daily basis.
The protein bar contains 22 grams of high-quality protein, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 16 grams of glycerin and maltitol, and just 250 calories per bar.
On the other hand, a sachet of the drink mix, when mixed with 250 ml of whole milk drink, provides 15 grams of protein, 39 grams of carbohydrates, 14 grams of fat, three grams of fiber, 13 vitamins and 12 minerals.
Amway Corp., which is celebrating its eighth year of operations in the Philippines, is now focusing on nutrition for the family with its Nutrilite supplements and programs.
As a leading global brand, Nutrilite has more than 200 nutritional supplement products, which includes tablets, capsules, powder drink mixes, nutritional snacks and bars.
