SM completes P1-B Cyber building in QC
MANILA, Philippines - SM Prime Holdings Inc., the property development arm of the SM Group, has announced the completion of SM Cyber West Avenue.
The property is a stand-alone commercial and office building along EDSA near the corner of West Avenue in Quezon City, just across SM North EDSA.
Built at a cost of P1.05 billion, SM Cyber West Avenue is a 15-story building with a floor area of 42,941 square meters (sqm) including a basement and roof deck.
The building has built-in support, not just for the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, but also for the information technology and other sectors of the service industry as well.
The opening of SM Cyber West Avenue follows the opening of SM Makati Cyber One and SM Makati Cyber Two in 2008 as well as the opening of SM Cyber Baguio in 2006.
During the inauguration early this month, SM Prime Holdings’ Commercial Properties Group (CPG) senior vice president Dave Rafael said the building supports the BPO sector, which is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy.
“It provides jobs and boosts Filipinos’ spending power, thereby benefitting other segments of the market such as food, retail, and property,” Rafael said.
To date, 10 floors of SM Cyber West Avenue have already been leased to two leaders in the BPO sector.
These BPO companies are Emerson Electric (Asia) Ltd., which occupy seven floors and the Synnex-Concentrix Corp, which will take up three floors.
“Because of its huge economic contribution, we want to make sure that the BPO sector is well supported by providing its workforce with state-of-the-art office buildings that are accessible and strategically located near public transport systems and lifestyle destinations,” Rafael added.
The building’s location is accessible to commuters because of its proximity to the planned MRT-7 project that will connect the North Avenue station in EDSA, Quezon City to the proposed Intermodal Transportation Terminal in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
It is also conveniently located near shopping malls, with SaveMore, on the ground floor, as well as dining choices such as Super Duck Milk Tea, Slice and Dice, Sbarro, Gloria Jeans Coffee, Greek Street, and Dunkin Donuts, among others.
For the convenience of its locators, SM Cyber West Avenue also has its own emergency power supply to ensure continuous availability of electricity.
SM Prime Holdings has plans underway to construct more Cyber buildings, which are stand-alone developments that are smaller than SM’s E-com Centers, outside of Metro Manila, Rafael said.
