Infographic: Basic facts on choosing a Metro Manila apartment

The Philippine Star

Homeownership may be a dream to many a hardworking Filipino, but these days, more people have been exploring the option of apartment renting. Reasons such as unpreparedness to purchase a home and the lack of affordable houses for sale close to the Metro’s business districts have made apartments a popular choice among young professionals and starting families alike.

Philippine real estate expert Urban Land Institute (ULI) believes now is the time for foreign investors to put money into rentals in Metro Manila. In fact, in their annual report Emerging Trends in Real Estate Asia Pacific, they named it the top Asian destination when it comes to apartment rental investment due factors like the young demographic, improving economy and increase in the number of expats moving to the country for work. If this holds true, it could mean that not only will apartments remain in demand, but that the number of apartments in the National Capital Region could increase, which is good news for those looking into rental residences.

For individuals who are considering renting an apartment, it’s essential to realize not just the benefits of such a residential set-up, but also the facts surrounding it. To shed light on the matter, MyProperty.ph collected some basic information about what it’s like to rent an apartment in the National Capital Region to give people a preview of what they should expect as renters. For instance, did you know that Makati only ranks third in the top 5 cities where Filipinos are looking to rent an apartment? And that there are more women searching for an apartment than men?
