Eton City celebrates children's literature with a Giant Picture Story Book

The benefits of storytelling go beyond mere entertainment. It helps in the emotional development of children as well as in their language and communication skills. Being a family-centric community, Eton City includes children’s literacy as one of the focal points in their kiddie activities.  So on the 12^th of June, a Gigantic Picture Story Book exhibit about The Fourth Little Pig by Carmelita A. Cochingco - Ballesteros will kick-off month-long activities for kids. In this tale, Gorgy, a self-reliant pig, works overseas in search of a dream – to build his own home. Gorgy meets a physically-challenged pig and they help each other make their dreams come true. 

The exhibit will run until August 12, 2012 at the ActivFunZone at Eton City, Sta. Rosa Laguna and is open everyday (except Mondays) from 10AM to 8 PM. Admission is free so there is no reason why your kids should miss out on this fantastic opportunity. Held in collaboration with Bantay Bata 163, the giant picture storybook exhibit underscores the rewards of reading for kids. Children’s books will be on sale at the site and for every book sold P1 will be donated to Bantay Bata 163.

Also, every weekend starting June 17 until July 29, there will be a series of workshops and fun recreational activities for children to be held at the same venue. On June 17, there will be exciting treats for all dads in celebration of Father’s Day. Adding up the excitement, dads and their kids may go fishing, boating and kayaking.  To close the day’s activities, the whole family may delight in lighting up sky lanterns for free at 6pm.

On June 24 and the 1^st of July, girls who love to play dress-ups will love the beads bracelet and hair accessories making workshop. The next weekend, July 8, is reserved for a read aloud book reading session with the book author, Carmelita A. Cochingco – Ballesteros. On July 15, all kids are invited to attend a scrapbooking workshop. July 22 will be a day for youngsters with green thumb; they will surely enjoy the basic topiary flower arrangement workshop. On July 29, there will be a hand-painted coffee mug workshop while on the following weekend, August 5, will be a hand-painting session for mugs-on-the-go. A culminating activity will be held on August 12, which concludes the exhibit.
