A merry month in South Forbes
MANILA, Philippines - “While strolling through the park one day, in the merry month of May” is a popular tune sung by a happy-go-lucky Bugs Bunny in one Merry Melodies episode still popular today. And why wouldn’t it be with all that May has to offer, especially in a tropical country like ours.
And so, on the last month before school resumes, South Forbes Golf City, the country’s largest fully-integrated and all-themed golf resort city at the forefront of the Metro Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay corridor, recipient of the Best Golf Community Development by the 2007 CNBC International Property Awards, the world’s most prestigious property awards programme, and the Highly Commended Award for Best Development by the 2010 Bloomberg Asia-Pacific Residential Award, is still on summer vacation mode.
b With weather patterns being screwy of late, seething temperatures up to 37°C are expected to last some weeks more. The ultimate destination, therefore, is the beach or the nearest swimming pool. However, as children slowly get back into the study groove, there’s no one stopping them from still enjoying the remaining days of summer vacation.
Every South Forbes enclave is expected to be packed this month, most especially at the village clubhouse where residents are cooling off, either at the swimming pool or with cool beverages to quench their parched throats.
And in South Forbes, each village clubhouse pool offers a different ambience that matches the theme of the village, yet one in purpose -- fun with water. It’s endless fun at the Mediterranean Villas clubhouse with its landscaped free-form pool with a color palette to say “viva” to. Swimming at the Phuket Mansions clubhouse pool which is set with a forest as a backdrop is just like being at the Thai island resort itself, complete with tropical coolers.
Flower Power. Flores de Mayo was introduced by the Spaniards during the long reign in the Philippines and has since become part of Filipino traditions identified with youth, love, religion, and romance.
Châteaux de Paris, South Forbes’ French quarter, takes its cue from the time-honored fiesta, which is an offering of flowers. Within the enclave are 6 themed parks, each special in their own way.
Of particular interest is the Grand Rotunda which features a fully-operational clocktower at the center of the village. The Orangery is a grove of dayap trees where residents can participate at harvest around twice a year. And the most impressive of all gardens is at the palatial clubhouse where a bed of vibrant flowers cover the front lawn like a laid out tapestry.
Perhaps, in the future, fiestas like the Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan.
Fair Weather Sport. A round of golf is best accompanied by good weather. And at the world-class 18-hole South Forbes Golf and Leisure Club, it’s not just the weather and the course, it’s also the view.
