Green Asia collaborates with Casas and Calma

MANILA, Philippines - A clean, stark and crisp aesthetic, by the looks of it, seems easy to achieve. But president and CEO of Green Asia Real Estate, Gab Perez, knows that it takes experts to achieve the seemingly simple, minimalist yet modern design he wants.

For his flagship project Privato Tower, a 25-storey, 200-room premium building located at the heart of Shaw Boulevard Pasig, Perez taps architect Carmelo Casas and interiors consultant Juan Carlo Calma to do wonders for his property’s design. “I shared with them my vision for Privato Tower, but of course gave them enough freedom to showcase their individuality and style,” Perez says of their collaboration.

“Casas is an icon, a pioneer, who designs landmark structures,” shares Perez. Included in Casas’ list of iconic projects are the Church of Gesu at the Ateneo de Manila University, the Shangri-La Grand Tower in Makati, and the Pacific Plaza Towers in Fort Bonifacio.

Casas, who is the principal at CASAS + Architects, shares the same design ideals with Perez. “Casas and his architectural firm make it a point to always be updated with the latest technologies and innovations in their field, so they can incorporate these up-to-date advancements with their projects,” says Perez.

“And their updated sense of design works with Privato Tower very well,” he adds. “Being a business boutique hotel, I envisioned Privato’s interiors to have a young, sleek feel, nothing like the stiff and intimidating atmosphere of usual business districts.” The Privato Tower has a rooftop bar that’s perfect for casual get-togethers over light drinks. The pool area, meanwhile, can also serve as a cozy and hip events place, with its chic and stylish design giving off a very cosmopolitan vibe.

Completing the equation is Calma, an architectural design consultant who’s a graduate of the prestigious Architectural Association and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. “Calma is young and edgy, and his works are very impressive. His cutting edge designs fit well with the look I want for Privato,” says Perez.
