Realty sector as potent eco tool
MANILA, Philippines - The Organization of Socialized Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP), through its new president, Linda Tan, underscored that “despite the world-wide economic constraints, the country’s real estate industry, especially the housing sector, will continue serving as a potent tool in engaging allied sectors in more economic activities.”
She said that with a positive outlook in the industry, the sound fundamentals of housing finance and healthy state policy will continue to help sustain the sector’s momentum gained since the Asian crisis in 1997.
“OSHDP will strive to be instrumental in advancing the cause of housing development, particularly for the working class,” she added.
Tan also said OSHDP will pursue the expansion of its membership by coming up with more tangible benefits for the members. ”We hope to offer them more perks that may not be obtained elsewhere as active organization members and developers of affordable housing.”
OSDAP, an association of private developers and allied interests, involved primarily in the development of affordable housing, announced the lineup of its elected 2009 officers and board of trustees. A developer of socialized housing projects in Cavite and Bulacan, Tan has been an active OSHDP member for over the decade.
Its 2009 roster of officers includes, aside from Tan of R.J. Lhinet Development Corporation, as president, Jefferson Bongat of Durawood Realty and Development, vice president; Paolo Roman Perez of Persan Realty & Development Corp., treasurer; Atty. Christopher Ryan Tan of Fiesta Communities Inc., secretary; and Marc Lagdameo of San Marco Realty & Development Corp., auditor.
George Richard Siton of Phinma Group of Companies is the new board chairman. Former OSHDP President Bansan Choa now seats in the board of advisers together with Orlando Bongat, Wilfredo Tan, Giovanni Olivares and Jesus Atencio. Ma. Rachel Madlambayan of Tradition Homes, and Santiago Ducay of Firm Builders Realty Development Corporation, will serve as trustees.
