DB&B makes presence felt

In 2006, a client asked design and build company DB&B Singapore to outfit the formers office in the Philippines. This gave DB&B a first hand glimpse of the strong business potential in the country.

In the same year, DB&B Philippines opened its door for business at the 23rd floor of PBCom Tower along Ayala Avenue in Makati. It only had a handful of staff and a firm belief that its foray into a new market will bear fruit.

Barely two years after, DB&B Philippines has tripled its manpower and has tucked under its belt an enviable number of local and multinational clients.

The local DB&B office is headed by two country directors, Melot Sunga-Panlilio who is also the business development director and Gina Gomez who also holds the position of senior project director. Desmond Wang, group general manager oversees the local operations from Singapore.

“Business has been very upbeat ever since we started,” shares DB&B business development director Melot Sunga-Panlilio.

The chance project and the company’s decisive move to start a local operation all turned out for the best.

The emerging demand for offshore call centers and BPOs in the Philippine is, without question, fuelling the need for corporate design and build services.

DB&B Philippines is the only one with a regional backing which gives it an edge in terms of multi-cultural expertise, manpower training, material production, procurement and financing.

Since its inception in Singapore in 1996, DB&B’s focus is on giving clients only the best product, at the shortest possible time at the most efficient cost. It has become so good at what it does, that for the year 2007, it has been named as one of the top 500 performing companies in Singapore.

It again garnered the same distinction in 2008 along with being ranked as one of the top 100 SMEs in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

The company is so serious about client servicing that it has come up with what is called the DB&B Methodology. Among other things, the method makes sure that client servicing continues even after project handover. It is the only one in its industry that has a Corporate Services Department that provides value-added service to clients. It has also generated new business for the company.

“You would normally call on someone who has always provided you good service in the past. This is one way we grow our business,” adds Panlilio.

Whereas other companies encourage multi-tasking, DB&B believes in the specialization of its talent pool. The old adage “practice makes perfect” rings true in the company beliefs.
