Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane of the Department of Public Works and Highways will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the opening of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) 34th national convention on Nov. 27-29 at the Atrium Grand Caprice, Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City.
President Willy Go of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) is inviting all members to join the convention. PICE 1st vice president Ramon Aquino is convention chairman. Convention theme is “Civil Engineers as Major Contributors to the Built Environment.”
Ebdane will share his insights and forecasts on the infrastructure development in the country and what Filipino civil engineers can expect in the growth of the country’s construction industry. DPWH’s main role is to undertake the planning, feasibility study, design, construction and maintenance of the country’s infrastructures such as roads and bridges, flood control, water resources projects and other public works.
Highlighting the first day’s event is the opening of PICE Construction Technologies, Services and Building Material Exhibit to feature the “Best Celebrated Civil Engineering Week and National Chapter Awards,” and the grand finals of the 27th National Civil Engineering Students’ Quiz, and the Fellowship Night with an array of raffle prizes.
Technical sessions on topics on the state-of-the-art technologies related to the five specialty divisions of PICE: construction management engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering and water resources and hydraulic engineering, will be conducted on the second and third day of the event. The three-day convention will kick-off with various sports events on Nov. 26.
