South Forbes adds Ivy League-like campus

-

Holistic Education is a multi-leveled experiential journey of discovery, expression and mastery where both students and teachers learn and grow together. By introducing students to a holistic view of the emerging world community, holistic strategies enable students to perceive and understand the various contexts that shape and give meaning to life.

Such is the vision of Edification Properties Holdings, Inc. (EPHI) in partnership with Cathay Land, Inc. (CLI) as they build a college campus in South Forbes Golf City, the largest fully-integrated golf resort city at the forefront of the booming Metro Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay corridor, honored by the 2007 CNBC International Property Awards, the world’s most prestigious property awards programme, as Best Golf Community Development.

“South Forbes City Colleges is a welcome addition to our Education Cluster in that it will beef up synergy with our other four clusters,” said Cathay Land president Jeffrey Ng. “This educational facility, covering 3 hectares, will have modern facilities and equipped with fiber optic connectivity to insure that the future potential applicants and enrollees will be educated and trained on an international standard.”

And in line with Holistic Education, its fundamental principles lend some value to the presence of the college in South Forbes:

Connectedness. The function of each part of a system is mutually dependent on the functioning of other parts and the system as a whole.

With the tremendous development along this growth corridor, being the center of light manufacturing industries and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, the location of more institutions of higher learning to provide the resources of a knowledge-based economy to these surrounding locator companies has become most essential.

The campus community will be patterned after Ivy League campuses like Stanford University in Palo Alto, University of Texas in Austin, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston in that technology-based industries and educational institutions work hand in hand.

The Learning Links Academy of Sta. Rosa located inside South Forbes caters to young minds from pre-school through high school, also complete with a day care facility where trained professionals can begin nurturing the minds of these youngsters. Graduates of the academy can pursue higher education at the South Forbes City Colleges which ensures a continuity of excellence through knowledge in facing the challenges of a modern age.

Being. Being is about fully experiencing the present moment, and transformation and growth allow each person to reach for the highest aspirations of the human spirit.

Though still in the planning stages, South Forbes City Colleges intends to initially offer courses in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information Technology, Business Management, Nursing and other medical-related courses, vocational courses (under TESDA), and foreign language courses — courses that open doors to the rest of the world as much as they help find one’s purpose in life.

“In addition to global education, these future students will be studying and living in a classic campus-type environment conducive to learning,” added Mr. Ng.

The planning of South Forbes has been rooted in the tenets of New Urbanism, an environmental approach to urban planning that creates compact, mixed-use, and pedestrian-friendly districts, which results in walkable and socially dynamic areas and reduces, if not eliminates, the dependency on an automobile-oriented system.
