Dirt-resistant latex paint launched

-
Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc., the country’s leading paint manufacturer, recently highlighted the success of Boysen Wallguard™, the world’s first dirt resistant, water-based exterior paint, during the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) 15th National Conference of Architects.

This first in global paint technology is the result of intensive collaboration between Boysen and Rohm and Haas, a US-based Fortune 500 specialty chemicals company. Boysen Wallguard incorporates Primal™ Dirtshield™ from Rohm and Haas, a product that was specifically designed to protect paint from airborne pollutants like dust, engine exhausts, smog and mildew typically found in urban areas.

"It’s an honor for Pacific Paint to be the first paint company in the world to launch this revolutionary technology," said Willy Ong, president of Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. "Buildings and houses painted Boysen Wallguard have been able to retain their freshly painted look even after being exposed for years to the pollution in Metro Manila, and this not only saves maintenance costs for our customers, the clean appearance enhances the value of their property."

While Boysen Wallguard has proven itself in numerous commercial projects including the Makati, Alabang, Cubao, as well as Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo, the best testimony to its effectiveness may be the Quiapo Church in Manila, which was painted with Boysen Wallguard back in 2002. Despite its exposure to a high dose of daily engine exhausts, the church has maintained a bright and clean appearance. In fact, the success of Boysen Wallguard has led Rohm and Haas to introduce Primal™ Dirtshield™ to other Asian countries like Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

"Rohm and Haas has had a long relationship with Boysen for more than 40 years and the companies have worked on many programs together," says Ian Penboss, Asia Pacific marketing manager of Rohm and Haas. "Chemists at Rohm and Haas took up the challenge to develop a dirt resistant polymer. Boysen’s experience in formulating, application and exposure testing, as well as their market leader position in the Philippine market were invaluable to the successful development of the new polymer."

For stain-free interiors, Pacific Paint recently introduced Virtuoso™ Silk Touch™, the first paint in the region to integrate Teflon® technology to produce a uniquely elegant and easy- interior coating.
