Realty tax seminar

Atty. Victorino Mamalateo, former deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and senior partner, VC Mamalateo & Associates, will speak at the real estate taxation seminar of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations on March 28 at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will be held at the amphitheater, Ateneo de Manila Professional Schools, Rockwell Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati City.

CREBA vice president Techie Bautista, head of the CREBA Institute, said the seminar is a major component of CREBA’s certificates program under the institute.

Mamalateo will discuss the value added tax (VAT) and creditable withholding tax (CWT), zonal valuation, socialized housing tax exemption, CREBA tax accreditation, estate planning and other related concerns.

He has 40 years of professional experience in tax practice, 30 years of which as a career service professional at the BIR and 10 years as active private tax practitioner; 30 years of teaching experience in the BIR in-service training for revenue officers and seminars for taxpayers, and some 20 years teaching in various colleges and universities. Mamalateo also has more than 10 years of experience in handling tax assessments and refund cases before the Court of Tax Appeals, and have published several books and articles on taxation.

Bautista said future seminars will cover land laws and titles, the ABCs of real estate development, and business opportunities in Special Purpose Asset Vehicle (SPAV) and joint ventures. Similar seminars will also be offered to provincial CREBA chapter and institutions upon request. Each course is accredited under the continuing education program for licensed realty practitioners.
