LLDA learning resource center to be built

CALAUAN, Laguna A Learning Resource Center (LRC) of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) will be constructed in the LLDA complex in this lakeside town situated about 70 kilometers southeast of Manila.
The LRC will be built taking into consideration the entries of winners in the design competition sponsored by LLDA , an agency under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The winners in the competition were announced at a program held recently at the LLDA office here.
The contestants were categorized into student and professional.
Students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Manila won all the three prizes in the student category. The winners were Rose Anne Evangelista, first prize, who received a plaque and P15,000.; Jeffrey Pascual, plaque and P6,000.; and Rica Festin, who tied with Michael Chua and Izelle Bernadette Larian for the third place (plaque and P4,000.).
In the professional category, Amado de Jesus placed second and received P10,000. and a plaque. No first and third prize winners were declared.
Casimiro Ynares III , LLDA general manager , said the Learning Resource Center is one of the major proactive approaches that the agency is using to inform the public about its significant activities and achievements.
It aims "to raise the level of awareness and participation among communities surrounding Laguna de Bay by offering a readily accessible integrated watershed information and related technologies to stakeholders and other interested clienteles."
Dolora Nepomuceno, LLDA assistant general manager and Laguna de Bay Institutional Strengthening and Community Participation (LISCOP) project manager, said that there are about 10 million stakeholders around the 90,000-hectare lake.
